MARRC GO FOR GOLD AT BEIJING
With only 6 years to go to London 2012, preparations are already underway with elite athletes to secure a winning edge. The Motion Analysis Research and Rehabilitation Centre is an integral part of Team GB’s Olympic preparation strategy using its leading technology to develop performance advantages enabling some of our best Olympic gold medal equestrian hopes to gain that winning performance advantage.
MARRC is working with the Team GB’s Elite Equine Squads in Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing and the Paralympians plus the World Class Start and Potential Riders to improve their performances by utilising a unique pressure detection system that maps and detects areas of potentially injurious pressure beneath the saddles when the horse is in motion. Full colour 3-D pressure charts are produced supported by real time synchronized video footage.
A poorly fitting saddle, or one which exerts pressure unevenly, will affect the whole performance and balance of the horse, leading to show jumps being knocked down, refusals on the cross country course, time penalties being added, and essential good marks being lost in the dressage.
